This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 9 P.M. UTC, Sunday, March 2nd, 2025. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.
Iran has displayed a new ballistic missile with a range of 1,700 kilometres. The United States says it has renewed its programme of “maximum pressure” against Iran in an effort to stop its nuclear and terror programmes. Meanwhile, the United Nations has claimed that Iran has enough material enriched to 60% to make six nuclear bombs if Iran takes the next step to enrich to 90%. A poll has found that majority of Americans support a military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, making such an attack more politically viable.
The United States is prepared to abandon ally Ukraine if Ukraine does not surrender to Russia. Russia and China now see the U.S. as unwilling to protect allies as long as the U.S. is not directly threatened. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom says it is willing to send troops to Ukraine, and the United States says that it wants to restart nuclear arms control talks with Russia and China.
China has conducted live-fire drills off the east coast of Australia, though in international waters.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
