The European Union plans to increase defense spending as worries grow over U.S. commitment to NATO.  Meanwhile, European NATO countries look to buffer themselves in the event the United States withdraws from the organization.  France says it is open to extending its nuclear deterrent to include allies on the European continent.  Poland says that it must pursue nuclear and modern unconventional weapons.  Further, it asks for the United States to deploy nuclear weapons to Poland.  The German Intelligence Agency warns that Russia is discussing scenarios to challenge NATO’s collective defence commitment.

Russia has agreed to assist the United Sates in establishing communication channels with Iran regarding nuclear issues and regional proxies, however Iran says it will not negotiate its nuclear programme.  Additionally, Iranian military is recommending that Iran pursue nuclear weapons.  The United States says that Iran has reduced the amount of time Iran needs to produce weapons-grade material from fifteen days to less than one week.  The U.S. has also threatened that Iran will be bombed if they do not agree to a nuclear deal.

Russia sees the United States as weakened, demonstrating contempt to the U.S. President during Ukraine negotiations.  Russia is to boost military presence in Arctic as competition for resources and access intensifies.

China is testing satellites that can attack other satellites while Russia is developing a satellite capable of carrying nuclear weapons while the Philippines will host another American missile system capable of targeting Chinese military facilities in the contested South China Sea.
