Current DEFCON Warning System&#x2122 Alert Level

DEFCON 5- Green

Condition Green

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

Current Assessment

The continuing U.S.–Iran conflict remains the most significant immediate area of concern. Tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme continue to present escalation risks, although diplomatic efforts remain active and there are presently no indications that the conflict is moving towards nuclear use.

Russia’s war against Ukraine, Russian–North Korean military cooperation, North Korea’s continuing nuclear and missile development, and China’s expanding strategic capabilities also remain under close observation. These developments contribute to a more dangerous long-term nuclear environment but, at present, do not indicate an imminent nuclear confrontation.
