There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

The United Nations says Iran is not providing credible information about material at undisclosed sites, while Israel says Iran has enough fissile material for three nuclear bombs. IAEA Director Rafael Grossi told the Board of Governors that there was no longer any possibility of stopping Iran from crossing the nuclear threshold. Meanwhile, Iran has switched off two U.N. nuclear monitoring cameras at an unidentified plant and has said it will remove 27 more.

Japan is to consider acquiring pre-emptive strike capability in response to an increasingly assertive China, North Korea and Russia. Meanwhile, China is on track to become the 3rd largest nuclear power as it continues to expand its arsenal. Additionally, China has successfully intercepted an ICBM warhead in mid-flight during test and has launched a new-generation aircraft carrier which is thought to rival those of Western carriers.

In the Korean theatre, South Korea has ruled out deployment of U.S. nuclear weapons in its country.

Russia sees the European Union and NATO forming a coalition for war against Russia. NATO, for its part, is to increase its quick-reaction force from 30,000 to 300,000 troops. The United States says it will increase its military presence across Europe in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Turkey has dropped its opposition to Finland and Sweden joining NATO. Russia has said it has no objection to Finland and Sweden joining NATO, but also said it would respond “symmetrically”.
