UPDATE 4/23/18 1318 PDT: DEFCON 5
DEFCON Warning System – Update 4/10/2018
This is the DEFCON Warning System.
Alert status for 1:30 P.M., PDT, Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
Condition code is Blue.
DEFCON 4.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are event occurring in the world theatre which require closer monitoring.
The recent chemical attack in Syria has placed both Russia and the United States into a position of possible armed conflict. While each side accuses and denies, we are beyond who’s actually responsible and almost to the point of this crisis intensifying independently and creating its own inertia.
There are various reports of military assets being moved into position, and both Russia and Syria believe that a strike by the United States is imminent.
Both Russia and the United States have spoken in strong terms regarding this incident. The United States has stated that it must take decisive action, and Russia has stated that it will respond aggressively against any attacker. Each has placed itself into a position in which it must take action, and anything less will be seen as weak or a lack of resolve.
The DEFCON Warning System is currently monitoring the position of military assets.
While we do not believe the situation in Syria will be anything more than it has in the past, we feel that a raise in the alert level is a prudent precaution at this time.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which has monitored and assessed nuclear threats against the United States by national entities since 1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.
If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
