This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 9 P.M. UTC, Sunday,
March 13th, 2022. Condition code is Yellow. DEFCON 3.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time, however
the situation is considered fluid and can change rapidly.
U.S. intelligence sees no force-wide nuclear change in Russia's nuclear
posture that go beyond what has been observed in prior moments of
heightened tensions. Nevertheless, Russia has said that the United
States has declared economic war against Russia. In the Ukrainian
theatre, the United States repeats its position that it will not send
troops to Ukraine and has gone so far to include the prohibition even if
unconventional weapons are used. Some express concern that this will
remove a barrier for Russia to use such weapons. However, progress is
apparently being made in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine,
although details have not been released. Nevertheless, Russia has asked
China for assistance with its war in Ukraine. The United States warns
China that China will face consequences if it helps Russia. China is
unnerved by the strength of the world's condemnation of Russia over its
invasion of Ukraine.
Iran has put a second military satellite into orbit. Importantly, Iran
says it will not give up nuclear progress. Nuclear negotiations are
stalled as Russia has introduced spoilers into the negotiations as
Russia battles the West over its Ukraine war.
European Union leaders announce intention to collectively rearm in face
of Russian threat.
Satellite imagery shows construction at North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear
testing site for the first time since it was closed in 2018 while South
Korea's new president-elect pledges tougher stance on N. Korea.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private intelligence organization which
has monitored and assessed nuclear threats by national entities since
1984. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not
represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should
make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for
any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what
steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an
actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings
for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official
news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

subject to delays. The next scheduled update is 9 P.M. UTC, March 20th,
2022. Additional updates will be made as the situation warrants, with
more frequent updates at higher alert levels.
