DEFCON Warning System – Update 7/1/21

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M., Thursday, July 1st, 2021. Condition code is Green. DEFCON 5.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats at this time.

The Pentagon has approved two drones made in China for use by U.S. military.  Meanwhile, India has shifted 50,000 additional troops to China border, and China is constructing what experts believe to be 100 new missile silos for intercontinental ballistic missiles in its western desert.

Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile is now 16 times higher than limit set by nuclear deal.  Iran claims a stockpile of 6.5 kilograms (14.3 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60% purity and 108 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20% purity in five months.

Ebrahim Raisi, considered to be a hardliner, has won the Iranian Presidency, while Iran says its ballistic missile programme is non-negotiable.  Iran did not extend its agreement with the IAEA and will neither record data at nuclear sites nor turn over existing data to the monitoring agency.  Meanwhile, the United States continues to vow to not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon.

NATO says any attack on allied space assets that threaten the Euro-Atlantic region’s security or prosperity will risk triggering Article 5, the 1949 North Atlantic Treaty’s mutual defence clause.

North Korea says it is prepared for dialogue with the United States, but it is unclear what exactly North Korea is willing to discuss.  It is known that famine and devastation from the Chinese Corona Virus grip the country.

Russia threatens to attack British ships if Britain sails ships into international waters claimed by Russia and says NATO will not respond due to fears of igniting World War III.  Additionally, Russia has formally exited the Open Skies Treaty.
